General Care Discussion :: Keeping the tank clean!

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I have RES in an 80 gallon tank. We clean his tank about once every week to two weeks, but it just seems to get dirty so fast! I am trying to figure out how I can keep his tank clean for longer. I was thinking of maybe a canister filter? I know I need another filter for sure but has anyone had a good experience, or bad, with a canister filter?

Thanks!

You'd want either the Xp3 or Fx5. Both are very popular and decently priced, with the Fx5 being more powerful and more expensive.

i had two xp3s on my 120 gallon and they did a great job. just make sure you secure the screen at the end of the intake tubing to prevent any injury to your turtle.

airators can help move the debris towards the filters as well
