Hi guys,

I cleaned out my RES's on Saturday afternoon and since then the smell coming from their tank has got unbearable and they're in my bedroom.

It was the end of the month change so cleaned the tank top to bottom and scrubbed everything. They tank i was given doesn't have any kind of lid so it's constantly open with just some chicken wire across it to stop the cats trying to get at them lol.

Any idea's??

Filter? I have a rena xp3 rated for 200 gallon tank, and mine is only 75 gallons. It cost $135 brand new on amazon but believe me it was worth every penny. I really struggled with weather I could really spend that much money on a filter but with Wilma in the classroom, I dont know if I could have kept her without it. She has a full tank with an ATBA and since October when I got the filter, I have only done one partial water change and that was before Christmas break in December. Her tank is open to the air. The water is sparkling clean. I never see any feces unless she has just done it and they are always cleared away within the hour or two. I have never had any problem with smell at all. Spend the money, do the canister filter. It is worth every single penny. Check craigs list. Sometimes you can find one on there, but I would definitely go that route. That will fix your problem. You are just going to have to put some money into it.

petmountain.com- always the go-to site for a lot of the RES stuff I get.
Rena Canister Filters are always at an unbelievable price.
You can do some research but with free shipping, petmountain is pretty unbeatable.
here's a link to the site: http://www.petmountain.com/product/aqua ... ilter.html

So the smell just started after the water change? Or was this a previous/regular issue?
