What's the difference between air stone and oxygen diffuser?

Benefits? Disadvantages?

I was doing a search for air stone...and some oxygen diffusers popped up.

I think oxygen diffusers are more specialized than a simple air stone.

I think Oxygen diffusers will by much more expensive. You don't need it for a turtle tank. A couple of air stones and pointing your filter output so that it breaks the surface of the water is all you really need, and you may not even need the air stones if your filter is producing enough oxygen exchange.l I like the air stones though. I have them on the same timer as the basking light so they only produce the bubbling while the light is on.
