Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

My female RES is 9 years old and has been acting weird lately. She's restless all the time and tries to climb out and she hasn't been eating a lot lately. She's also been doing weird things with her feet (looks like she's trying to kick her tail or something). I read a few posts on here and I think that she might be gravid. She's never laid eggs before (that I've seen at least) and I don't know how to help her. Should I create a nesting area? Also, I was planning on moving her into a bigger tank in about a week, but I don't want to stress her out more, so should I wait to move her?

I hope if your Res was gravid, she's laid by now. But if not, if its not too cold, take her out to dig & nest then lay. Thats the best idea. You'll know within an hour or so if she starts digging if she's going to lay. Also, she just may surprise you and lay in the tank. Normally the Res won't lay their whole clutch at once if they're water laying...but there should be an egg here & there. Good luck!
