General Care Discussion :: Can turts get pink eye from people?

Hey everybody! Been a while since I've posted. This semester has been ridiculous and all and I haven't had many turtle issues... Tesla is healthy other than his long shedding process.

However, today I got a sudden onset of pink eye and I didn't realize this until after I had already given Mr. Tesla his lettuce for the day. :< I know that it's really slight that cats and dogs can get pink eye from people, but I was worried if I should keep an eye (Hurr hurr) on Tesla to make sure he doesn't get sick.

Hey! I think it depends on what causes (viral, bacterial) the pink eye. As a precaution, just keep an eye out. Also, you might want to add some wheat germ koi pellets to his diet once a week to see if that helps with the shedding.

Well, I went to the Little Clinic so they didn't run any tests... From the looks of it though it might be bacterial. Which is why I was worried about the turt. :/. I'll keep an eye on him. I usually sanitize before and after I touch anything related to the tank, but the paranoia is still there.

Yeah he's been taking a long time to shed. Been about half a year since I adopted him and he had a lot of retained scutes from (what I could only assume was) bad care before. Think I could get those in a local pet store?
