General Care Discussion :: Going away

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Haven't been here in a while...

I go to college in Illinois but my home is in Michigan. Spring break is coming up and i except to be gone for around 10-14 days. Should I leave Prometheus behind or take him with? If it is ok to leave him in the dorm, how should I prepare him? If it weren't for all of you both me and my turtle would be out in the streets.

If everyone else is gone from the Dorm and there will be no one to take care of him, you'll have to take him with you. Do they make you unplug everything during long breaks, if so, that won't work for leaving him with someone else to care for him either. You may want to do a search on traveling via a car with your turtle. I know there are a number of posts regarding this topic.

I am actually leaving for my spring break as well soon for about a week. I really have no way to take him with me as I'm going to Florida, do you think he'll be ok if I leave some feeder fish and plants with him?

Do you have the lights on timers? Do you have a good filter and water heater? (Are you leaving him in the dorm?)

I got the OK from Campus Life to leave everything on. I have his UVB and basking lamp on timers, the XP3 for filtrator, and a heater. I'll be gone between march 8th to march 21st abouts but I'll have someone feed him lettace and pellets up until the 11th around. Tomorrow I'll get some feeder fish. Is this a good idea or is there anything more I should do/ put in his tank?

You can't have anyone check even a few times during those last 10 days?
