General Care Discussion :: Ever look at your old posts?

I did very recently and it was amazing to see the progression from newbie to now!!! My very first post indicating my pride in having a RES, the story on how Penelope joined our family, her “baby pictures” and original tank setup, etc.
Like a little journal, that I didn’t even know I created

Personally, I found it quite fun!

Weird behavior, illness, funny stuff, innocuous questions, etc. – the times when I was most prone to hit Turtle Talk...it’s all there
It led me to a revelation about her gravid “cycle,” scute shedding intervals, and habits in general.

So, if you are so inclined to take a walk down memory lane and remember all the General Care things you learned, all you have to do is:
Log in, look at the grey bar located right below the “Turtle Talk” logo, click “View your Posts” and voila!
You will see anything you posted or contributed to.
So, one day of boredom led me to something really fun by accident!

I think my writing becomes poorer with each post. I tend to reformulate and recompose a lot of what I write but I don't carefully reread it. Plus, the spell-check gives me a false sense of security.

Well, back when I had more brain cells (i.e., younger) I did pretty good using the "Quick Reply"
Now, I've become so bad that I "pre-write" everything in Word and then copy and paste...how sad is that? LOL
It takes me like a Gazillion hours to write an innocuous post -
sad....but fun

I do that sometimes... but I try to get through the posts and emails as fast as possible. There is a lot of repetitive info to give out which is a drain sometimes.

In rereading my posts, I read a story that prompted me to post this picture - something I tried to described about a 100+ posts ago, but couldn't articulate
I don't normally post pictures of people, but this one needs a human to show the love a RES has for his/her owner
- it's not me in the pic - but, she acts he same towards me.
Penelope was smaller then, but she still shows and seeks the same trusting love. Notice how she has her little front arm being held...she loves putting it out waiting for a touch, and extends her head for a rub. When in a really good mood, she wiggles her feet and loves it when we play them
So cool!!!
and I forgot all about it until I re-read my posts

Since i didnt start out a noobie on here my posts stayed the same. I dont spell check and usually answer from iphone now my posts qaulity went down lol. Though i will say the first turtle forum i joined i didnt even know how to tell a male from a female. I have come really far

Oh my goodness!!!! I want that kind of relationship with Krush, my turtle too! Right now, when he sees me, he swims to the top of the tank, waits for me to come over and 'pet' him on his shell and on the top of his head. I can hold his little front paws now too. He will let me. Big change from when I first got him, picked him up and he opened his mouth in anger and tucked all fours into his shell!

Sweet photo! I have to say that probably our turtles have learned as much about their owners as we have about them and that's why they come to trust us. Good job! I would love for Krush, my turtle to be as trusting. Right now, he's letting me pet his shell and the top of his head and lets me hold his front 'paws' while he's in his tank. I just love the little guy!! Thanks for that post!

It sounds like Krush trusts you, and depends on you, and "turtle" loves you/
Swimming over to you just because you are there is so cool!!
He waits for you to pet him AND let's you do it without food - while he in water - That is even cooler!!!!

Hissing is typically a sign of fear. Just talky gently the entire time ...my personal tips on that could go on forever...send me a PM and I'll get into details
