I recently noticed my youngest turtle "bobbing" his throat when he/she is on the basking dock you know like a frog does. He's not making any noise but is it just him breathing and I never noticed or is it like a mating thing?

It's normal as far as I know.

All of my turtles do it, Box turtles, RES and YBS. Some do it more than others, but they all do.

yeah its common in most reptiles accept snakes and some lizards

I read somewhere that this is how they smell thing, something about the Jacobsens organ.. Normal!

I Have A RES , And He Does It All The Time .. I Think Its Just The Way They Breathe
