Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

When adding a new turtle to your tank or pond is there anything you need to do? Do I need to make sure they get along or would they be fine? Do I need to make sure they are around the same size? I have a large stock tank with a 3inch and 4inch res. I have been thinking of adding a painted in. But no idea how to go about it. Since I bought my last two as babies togeather two years ago.

Well first and foremost they need to be of comparable size.
*Steve if you read this can you post the link you posted when I asked about putting my painted with my sliders*

Painteds tend to be smaller and less strong then red when they are full grown.

Also no matter what type of turtle you add you need to do a quarantine for a minimum of 30 days and tale a trip to the vet with the new turtle for a full health inspection.

I personally would test them together for a while also and be prepared as in having an extra proper setup ready for the new turtle if they don't get along

Sure... http://www.redearslider.com/cohabitation.html

How big is your tank or pond? Are the turtles males or female?

I have a 130g tank full with above ground basking. Not possitive on the sex of them yet since they are only 2. But so far I'm guessing females.

Either male or female RES can be very aggressive, so always have a plan to temporarily separate them.
