Hi
My name is Ramesh from south india. I had two baby RES for 2 months and they died because of RI . And I read about RES while I was trying to make them ok. After that I got two bay RES and in one week one of them died today. The other one is doing fine . It was only lethargic for 2 days no swollen or closed eyes no symptoms of RI. I have a filter and a heater I keep them in the morning sun for 30 mins. I gave them pellets . They ate ok . They are very small in size . They must be a month old according to my idea. I am wondering what would be the reason. I just wanted to let people know about this. In case experts want to think about this. But I have to say , the help one can get from this site is amazing. Thanks to all.
Ramesh

A lot of people speculate that many hatchlings can be sick by the time they are brought home. I would also add that I think it's mainly stress (over handling), improper diet (not eating right away) and incorrect temperatures.

Babys cant be tuff to start off when you buy them from the street vendors. usually the street vendors have them in tiny cups with super cold water in them or over heated water from sitting outside all day while trying to sell them. they also usually dont feed them so they can cut there costs in half. Its a real shame how baby RES are sold even by responsible sellers at expos where they have 300 of them in one tank
