How many people here have trouble feeding their young turtles plant matter? My turtles are only about an inch and i have had not trouble feeding them plant matter. They just gobble it up. I had 3 aquatic plants in the aquarium and two of them were gone in a week. The turtles just love it.

I feed my turtles 3 to 5 pellets daily. I leave romaine lettuce or celery leaves in the tank all the time. They are usually gone in 3 days. My turtles tend not to touch carrots though.

My turts have never had a problem eating the veggies that I throw in the tank. There are some that they obviously like more than others, but they have always been willing eaters! Best to start young.

My turtle was around 1.25 inch when we got him, and I've never had any trouble with him eating his veggies. Like missibsu said, there's some veggies that I can tell he likes more than others but overall he has never had a problem eating them. :)

I've never had a problem with getting them to start eating plant matter. I did notice, though that this winter my RES did go through a period when he wasn't interested in any leafy greens except for anachris. I kept putting some in the tank (less than usual, though) and without warning he started eating the greens again.

I'd skip the celery leaves and try red leaf lettuce and dandelion leaves.

I think the younger the turtle when you start veggies, the easier they take to it. Mine were over a year old when I started and they didn't care for them at all... I just got tough and now they gobble down about anything I put in their tank.
