General Care Discussion :: cracked shell?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

The turtle on the top is not eating as much. The shell is smaller by a few millimeter than the other three turtles that I have. I thought it is because the turtle have a smaller mouth since it's the smallest of the four turtle that I own, so I need to pump up the growth some way and I thought of feeding it with tiny dried shrimps. They are smaller than the reptomin baby pellets.

today that turtle sort of rushes to the food I put on the water. Seems to be more active but not as quite active as my other turtles. Then I have a different suspicion of why the turtle might not be eating and bask all the time>

Could it be the crack on the shell or was it just "grade B" patterns from birth? Why that turtle got thick black lines on the shell?

It looks like it's just an extra scute, that shouldn't be a problem. Turtles will grow at different rates for different reasons, I would not try to manipulate his diet to cause faster growth. It's also normal for the seam to look dark grey, is that what you're observing?
