Hi all,
So I'm fairly new to being a turtle parent. I got a RES hatchling in January and I recently moved him into a 55 gallon tank. He has the same floating dock that he has had since I've had him, but recently he has started trying to eat the dock. He sits on top of the dock and bites at it, seeming to pull pieces off. I've read that this may be signs of a calcium deficiency but he gets cuttlebone. Just wondering why he might be doing this and what I can do to get him to stop. Also, just wondering about the best way to keep water safe for my little guy, meaning nitrates, nitrites and pH. Everything tests at safe levels, except for my nitrites are a little high. I've had him since January and he was 1.5" at the time. He's now just under 3", and I'm hoping for advice on how much to feed him, and what varieties work best. Any age estimates based on his size? Thanks everyone!
