General Care Discussion :: Is it or Isn't it :)

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I am the proud mother of 5 turtles. A soft shell, black nob, yellow belly cooter, a terrapin, and one red-ear slider. I came to be the proud mother of a new turtle that I believe is a red ear however the markings are somewhat unusual...still has red ears but they are much brighter than others I have seen, the shell is much darker, and the markings are more pronounced. I am sure it is a red ear but wanted someone with more red ear knowledge than myself to confirm. The picture is attached...and no this is not his final set up. He came with this one.

Thanks!

Peggy

It's hard to say with shell patterns since they can change quickly. It doesn't look very unusual, so I would be inclined to think he's just a RES.

i believe an RES shell will darken as they age (my oldest is almost completly black) Looks like an RES from here.
