Hey

i have recently become the proud owner of two turtles - both one year approx, one male and one female

I was told they are yellow eared turtles, however they have the patterns/colours and the distint orange "ears" any guesses to if they would be more likely RES?

Hi, welcome to the site. If your turtles are under 4", it would be hard know their sex just yet. Can you post a clear picture of your turtles so we can try to ID them? RES ears are not always red.. most are orangey.

Yup, they're RES. You are right - the one in water is a male and the one on top appears to be a female.

was confused when i was told they where yellow eared turtles

It could be from cultural translation, the way tortoises, terrapins and turtles have overlapping definitions.
