Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

My turtle is shedding (I think) because I see strange, translucent filmy bits in the water & I don't know where they are from. My turtles are roughly a month old, so is one shedding (I also found a bit of scute edge peeling when I scratched it gently)? Is this even normal

I commented on your thread in urgent care about your turtle falling, regarding their habitat. They really, desperately need much more room, a filter, a basking light, UVA and UVB lights, a water heater, etc., as soon as possible. Once you get them into their new tank with everything they need, I would just watch them - I don't think it's necessarily good for them to be shedding that young, although shedding skin and shedding scutes are different. If it's just skin, that's normal and okay. If their scutes are peeling and they're already outgrowing their shells, I would worry that you might be overfeeding them, or that there are other problems, possibly caused by bacteria, fungus, or even from an injury. Does it seem to hurt him when you touch the peeling scute? I'm definitely not an expert on scute shedding, so I'll defer to the people here who are far more informed about that.

No, but I don't know where's it shedding. I saw something in his enclosure that looked like shedding
