Hello everyone, I'm kinda sad because my hatchling is afraid of me. I bought it 3 days ago, and I wanted to start taming it because it was shy and didn't bask when I was in the same room, and uses to dive when I get close. He eats but he doesn't notice that I'm the feeder because I leave the pellet on water and he eats it later.

So today I handled It, gentle of course, and measured the length of the shell (1.4 inches). Then I returned it to the tank, and since then he swims like crazy, like trying to escape from me . What may I do?

Your doing everything right. Some turtle are skittish, especially when they are young and new. Feed them around the same time everyday and eventually it will associate you with food and come begging. Be sure to read the feeding directions linked at the top of the site and don't be tempted to overfeed.

Expect a few weeks of being afraid, and when he gets used to you you won't be able to walk in the room without him following you begging!
