i turn on my uva/ubv lamp at 10:30 and turn it off at 8:30...My question is how long should they spend their time basking? :?

as a general rule of thumb a red eared slider is a basking hog. they will sit up there for hours or until someone walks in the room then they jump off. sorry but there is no exact amount of time that they will bask. (ex how long of a hot shower do you take? till you cant stand it any more that could be 15 min or 1 hour. same for you turt.) as long as you see them up there a couple of times throught the day they are fine.

p.s you can leave the lights on 12 hours a day. so like from 0900am to 0900pm.

just make sure your temps are right. water temp mid 70s basking site high 80s.

I could (and do) take hot showers for as long as possible.... untill my gf brushes her teeth in the morning.. then COLD!!!!!!!
