General Care Discussion :: Letting the turtle walk around the room

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Eggplant likes to roam around my dorm room when I let him out to clean the tank. I make sure to block off the bed though, it's super heavy and would be hard to get him out from underneath.

I brought him outside during the summer a few times, he seems to like that a good deal. My two cats are absolutely terrified of him though! Sage, my torbie, was napping and Eggplant (my RES) tried climbing over her. She jumped up and ran away, tail all puffed up! Eggplant terrorized her for a while, following her around. And he's only 3 1/2 inches!

A turtle might pee or poop when out of the tank. I would say do the same as if any other pet left urine or feces on the floor - clean the area and wash your hands after you take care of it. As for room temperature, I try to keep it around 75F and higher.

i cant even let it out of its tank necause my mum said that it would be soo dirty if it pee or poop on the ground. And if your turtle is big enough it will be safer as i have heard before an inccident when this girl put her baby turtle on the ground and accidentally step on it.Maybe you can nring you res to the park.

My turtle is named Elvis and he does like to be out. He can be out for a week or two as we can attest to when he hides and can't be found but now we are taking an older aquarium and making it his basking and walk around area for dry visits. He likes to stroll

We let ours out almost daily for about an hour.. He eventuallys walk to where his tank is and I take that as his way of telling me he's thirsty or wants to go back in. I think he looks forward to getting out and about from time to time though.
