General Care Discussion :: I am truly amazed....

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

....at all the wonderful information about turtles on this website/forum.

When I started having turtles as pets (18 yrs ago), there was little or no information on taking care of these pets which I found very sad since the first 2 turtles I had died due to pneumonia (and I took them to 2 different vets who told me they were fine so it isn't like I didn't try to get help for them! BUT even the vets weren't informed!!!). After they died, I found 2 decent turtle care books that gave me the basics (habitat, temp, feeding) which have gotten me thru the last 16 yrs with my adult female RES. BUT there is always more to learn, and in recently searching for Betta information (so I can be a better Betta mommy), I also came across this site.

Thanks for hosting such a marvelous, informative site! I will definitely be referring future turtle owners here so they will have a better idea of what to expect & hopefully prevent tragedies (like mine) from happening.

Turtle owners these days are SO lucky. There are MANY products out there that weren't available when I started like "turtle clean", tank set-ups just for turtles, canned turtle treats, special vitamins for frogs/fish/turtles, and floating pads for all sizes of water turtles/frogs. It just couldn't be easier to take care of these "kids"!

I still think about my first 2 turtles sometimes. When a pet is dear, you never completely forget about them after their death.

I couldn't agree more with your last comment.
