Well, when they are in the water, their instincts will always see you as food dispenser. Outside of the tank, they are more sociable if you want interaction (and some of the risks that go along with it).

I don't think turtles can love. Not like cats and dogs anyway.

I've been trying to avoid getting snapped myself. Sometimes my turtle has a little trouble catching his food. It tends to float away from him and I have to push it back in his direction with a straw.
