I have a question. Some water got into my lamp, so now I can't use it until my dad checks it. If it's not done by tommorow, i'll have to use a different lamp.Is it gonna be ok if the light isn't on for 1 day?
Also, we got a glass cover, since Vien escaped yesterday and spent a night under my desk. So, is it safe to use light with glass?

Without the light for one day isn't going to be a problem. Just don't go for weeks at a time. If you have some nice days you could ways take the turt outside for a few too!

The glass is fine as long as it isn't between the basking area and the bulb. Glass will filter out the beneficial uvb rays. I have glass on the top of my 75 gallon and left it so the one section where the light lays across is removed.

Vieniebebe, are you using the bulb for UVB, light, and or heat? What kind is it and how close is the bulb to the water?

You turtle will be fine without one day of the light (which one is it?). A glass cover will block the UVB rays if it's between the turtle and the light. And if it's getting hot where you are, unless there's adequate ventilation, a glass cover might keep too much of the heat in.

If it's warm, you might consider using a screen instead. You can make one out of 1/2 inch hardware cloth (a mesh you can buy at home centers, hardware stores, etc.).
