General Care Discussion :: Biting turtle....

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Well my turtle is now getting out of hand with this biting thing. I took him outside to show an amish boy because I figured they had never seen a turtle before. He acted fine till after I let the boy pet him (only on his back shell where he couldn't get bit is where I let him pet) When I picked up Michelangelo to show him his underbelly, Michelangelo actually turned his head as far as he could to try and bite my finger that was close to his left front leg. He almost got me. I couldn't believe it. And then the whole back indoors (even in his bucket) he was trying to nip at me. And when I picked him up to put him back in his tank he just kept hissing and had his mouth open ready to strike.
She is mine and I shall call her Michelangelo!

He has to be the most aggressive RES I've ever heard of. That is so strange. I guess you must have been the "lucky one" to get the biggest hot-head out of our little community. ;)

Knowing his temperament I'd be really careful with letting anyone else near him.

Are you sure you don't have a snapper? :)

Lol I'm sure. I just can't believe how mean he is getting with wanting to bite everyone. I had to have the dad explain in dutch that the turtle will bite because at the rate he was going I figured he'd bite the kid. But it's funny because when I go to feed him, he now watches me and will wait for me to drop his food in where before he'd run and hide. So at least that part is improving..now if we can only get his biting to go away we'd be fine. (I'm just waiting for him to try and bite the cat again...that was really interesting...)
