Me and my wife decided to get 2 RES turtles and so far all we have is a 20 gal turtle tank, the filter and gravel. I would like to know what i will need in the tank to take care of my turtles and also what kind of food i will need to feed them. I need alot of info so i can start off to a good start for my new turtles. Thank You in advance for any advice posted.

The info that you need is all here...basically what you need to do is start reading. Along with posts on the forum, the mainsite has a basic care section that is very helpful.

If you've already put the gravel in, take it out. Turts are notorious for eating it and it can cause unpleasant results.

For a list of food and suppliments to give your turtle see the feeding and nutrition section. There are stickys at the top that list what to feed.

A 20 gallon tank is ok for now, but be aware that you are going to have to upgrade soon. In my first year with two, I went from a 10 gallon to a 75 gallon tank. It's also possible that you will need two set ups if they don't get along.

Be sure to read up on the lighting you will need as well. It is crucial for the health of you new pets.

There's too much to learn to go through it all in one post. It would probably be a book by the time we're done typing.

So start here: Basic Care and here: Care Sheets

You will want to cover all the "stickys" in the forum as well. Then if you have specific questions just ask and we'll be glad to help.

How big are your turtles? If you have any pics, we'd love to see them.

...and Welcome. :)
