General Care Discussion :: Shedding skin.

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Is it normal for turtles to shed their skin periodically? Cosmo looks like he has skin shedding on his neck, head and paws. You can't see it when he gets out of water, but you can see it whispy, hanging from him when he is underwater. Is this ok? Is it natural, or is something else wrong? Thanks!

Mine done that too and I thought it had a fungus or something. But If I'm not wrong it is totally OK.

It's very normal unless it's excessive. :)

Mine have been shedding ever since they have been living in the new 55 gallon tank. Maybe trying to outgrow it ASAP, making me waste money :) .
