Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

just today, i noticed my 4inch RES acting aggressively towards me. this is really unusual because i have never seen him do this before. since he was a hatcling, ive always touched him on top of his head gently, and he never retracted his head, nor shyed away. hes the only RES ive seen that actually lets u pet him.

but today, wen i put my hand down to re-arrange the filter, he lunged at my fingers trying to bite them. when i picked him up, he tried the same thing again and again

i'm not sure why he became so aggresive out of nowhere.

Is he hungry? Or maybe thinks he's hungry? Usually when RES bite it is because they have mistaken your fingers for food. They recognize your hands as the ones who feed them...or hands in general. Maybe that is it.

Also, touching his head is an aggressive thing for YOU to do. Maybe he sees you as aggressive and is defending himself.
