In my turtle's aquariums are flakes of varying sizes that are white/clear. What are they?

How big are your res? Sounds like shed scutes to me.

I suspected it... haven't measured yet, few miles from house, get the measurements in maybe 1.30 hours...

I didn't start noticing the shed scutes til mine were about 4 inches, that's why I ask.

Flakes sound like something small to me. Are these flakes hard or soft? If they're hard/rigid, are they pieces that are a bit smaller than your turtle's scutes? Do any of your turtle's scutes look like pieces of them have come off?
