By the way, I think I can see the hard backing on a cuttlebone now. I can get it off though it doesn't come off easily.

The lady at the petstore said I was better off getting a Dr. Turtle sulfablock...

More than likely pet store personnel do not know the correct details in caring for your turtle. You and your turtle are better off with cuttle bone and throwing out the sulfablock.

She was asking what kind of bird I have and everything though, should I just say "No I want it!"

Most petstore personal do not really and truly know the 'basics' of good Turtle Care....Just tell them it is for your turtle, and if they ask....refer them to this website, I did so at Petco. They were asking me all sorts of questions, and trying to get me to buy Goldfish to feed my guy. ICK! They also told me my 7" Turtle would be fine in a 20 Gallon tank.....There was one guy there that really knew what he was doing....was making sure I was getting the right Greens in him, and recommended the Cuttlebone. So you really have to watch the petstores...most are hired with little or no experience with pets other than owning their own. We used to have an iguana, and they would tell us all the time that we only needed to feed her iguana pellets....GRRR!!! She would have starved....
