I just bought a red ear slider and was told that he'll get to be about dinner plate size when he's full grown. How long will that take?

A good rate of growth is about an inch a year. This will vary based on diet, genetics, environment, etc. They may also grow a bit more in the first year of life.

Males can grow to be about nine inches long (shell length) and female can reach 12 inches.
