General Care Discussion :: one of my turtles died

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Wed Aug 30, 2006 11:55 pm   one of my turtles died

I have gone to the vet 3 times now, given antibiotic shots, used tuna juice on their food, and constantly monitered the temps in the tank, and yet one of my babies is dead. I think the other two are recovering, they are eating and swimming again, but I still feel horrible. I know I couldn't have done anything else, but I am so sad. I've never lost a pet so young before, and I hope it never happens again.

I'm sorry! You put up a good fight for him and did everything you could. Losing a pet is never easy.

I am so so sorry to hear of your loss. I know you did the best you could. Your two survivors are very lucky to have such a caring keeper.

I am sorry for your loss. That would be tough after all the work and effort you have put into trying to save him. My thoughts are with you. I hope the other 2 continue on their path to health and don't give you any further problems.

Very sorry to hear you lost him. :( It's good to hear that the other are improving.

I'm sorry for your loss. It can be so hard when we lose a pet we love, even if we've had him for a short while.

Concentrate on the other two to make sure they get better. Good luck.

Ooooh, I'm so sorry to hear that! Hatchlings do have a very high mortality rate, but you DID do everything that was neccessary to help them recover - sometimes nature wins over nurture! Sending good turtle thoughts your way!

Sometimes there's only so much you can do. Don't feel bad it sounds like you did everything in your power to help him survive. I'm sorry for your loss, hopefully your other turtles will make a speedy recovery.
