General Care Discussion :: I'm worried....

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Tue Sep 19, 2006 11:54 pm   I'm worried....

My turtle Dana, who always use to swim up to the glass when it's time to eat and even when I would just come over to see her, has been acting weird today. When I came to feed them, she ran away and hid in a plant. When I went to the glass she went to the back of the tank to hide. And when I picked her up, she hid all the way back into her shell and I could barely even see her nose. And trust me, this is very odd behavior for her. I would expect it from Mercedes, but she seemed friendlier than Dana today.

Another weird thing. It looks as if water has run down the front of my tank and dried up. It didn't make it to the stand it is on. Only about 3/4 of the way down the tank. It's just really odd. And that was new today.

I'm really worried about her and I'm afraid something may be wrong. Any clues as to what it could be? It really upsets me to think that something could be wrong with one of my babies.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm curious, has anyone else been in contact with your turtles lately that could have scared them?

That's what I am wondering, too. We rent, and yesterday they came to mow. And I really wonder if someone came inside. But other than that, no. I just don't want her to be afraid of me anymore. She never has been.

I would just leave her alone for a day or two and see how she responds. Also keep an eye out for her behavior with Mercedes.

Well, I got home and she was back to her normal self. Maybe something just had her spooked. But she comes up to me now and doesn't hide when I hold her, well, not any more than normal. But now she seems fine. Who knows what it was.
