im hoping it doesnt take more than 4 years. :shock: cause i love my turtles like crazy :oops:

Safest growth rate is 1 inch per year. The only way they grow faster than that is if their over fed protien which isn't very healthy for them.

I agree with flutterby, the only way they can grow is if they eat good and get enough cal. and other nutritions that they need to survive.

While growth of an inch a year is good, hatchlings may grow a bit more the first year, so you may not have to wait 4 years to reach that 4 inch marker. Like mentioned, be aware of overfeeding.

They grow the most (and fastest) in the first 3 years of life. At a year, about 3 inches is good; the way many are overfed, though, it's not uncommon for a captive RES to be 4 inches or even more at a year (not that you want to aim for this).
