when i bought my RES half a year ago, it was only 1.25". But now, it's already 2.25". When would you consider your RES to be an adult instead of hatchling?

I know you can tell the gender when they are around 4" in shell length. Males have longer front claws and a thicker longer tail. As far as adulthood, I'm not sure. Someone will reply on that for you soon.

I believe that the first year is considered hatchling, the second a yearling, and adult after that. I may have missed a step in there though. You can't determine age based on size though, because size will vary based on habitat, feeding, genetics.

I would think that they would be an adult when they are capable of reproduction. So that would probably be a few years old.
