I have noticed in the last few weeks Fred's mating ritual and mounting. Today Ethel has had a long white string coming out of her, almost as strong as thread. How long does it take after mating to lay eggs?

How big are your turtles?

They are 4" in length (shell length)

Does anyone know what that string is??? I have never heard that! Does it smell? What is it for??

(see the white threadlike stuff coming out of my turtle)

She was about 4 inches when she did that too. She's never done it since then.

I have no idea what it really was. It only happened that one time and it took her all night to get whatever it was pushed out..and then the fish ate it. So I have no idea.
