Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Um... my male turtle definitely is making noise. He comes and sticks his head up out of the water. A few seconds later, I hear this little...bird-like sound. He stops when I look at him. It's a strange sound, almost tree-frog like. Why????

Is this normal??

He only does this when he's bringing his head out of the water? Is it like a little whistle? If so, I've periodically seen people writing about this, and it seems to have something to do with the air being expelled. If he appears healthy otherwise, I'd just keep a watchful eye out in case any other symptoms appear.

my turtles sometimes croak.
From the homegrowers soul, straight to his lungs. That's the method that I myself find fun. Start from seed and then you'll see, just how fun homegrowing can be.

That is so funny! Mine makes a croaking sound also! And like a chirp sometimes! Its cool.

Youre doing the right thing keeping an eye on him to make sure it isnt respiratory problems, etc. Otherwise if he is on the dock and chillin', and just makes noises sometimes, I believe its totally normal. Besides expelling air, I dont know any other reason why mine "croaks, chirps" but she just does! lol
