General Care Discussion :: Turtle making strange nosie

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Remy keeps making this strange nosie. It sounds like if you let air out of a ballon by stretching the air hole as the air comes out of it. Other then that he seems fine. He eats, sleeps, basks, and so on. Just want to make sure the nosie he is making is normal.

Right now mucus seems to be coming out of his mouth. He is on the basking dock right now. I decided to turn on the heat lamp for him. I've noticed lately he will be under water and then he would be swimming real quickly up for air possibly. I'm sorry but I'm not letting him die like Leo did.

Take him to the vet immediately. It sounds like he may have Respiritory illness (kinda like pneumonia). He needs some turtle antibiotics to get rid of that.

You said that now that he's on the basking dock you're going to turn the heat on...Is the basking light not on during the day? What is the temp of the basking area (90-91F would be good since he's displaying symptoms.

What is the temp of the water (a little warmer than usual, about 82F would help his immune system fight any infection until he sees a herp vet).

Is he still eating?

I keep the heat light on during the day. I just thought I would turn on since he was on the dock in the night. I am planning on taking him to a herp vet. I'm also planning on taking Miley too better safe then sorry if you ask me.
