I was wondering, what the average price of a filter?

also, what is the easiest way to clean a 10gal tank? I live in an apartment and I have to use my bathtub...

My Rena XP3 cost about $100, shipping and all. I think you can get it somewhat cheaper than that if you find a place that's not charging shipping - like PetSmart and Big Al's are right now.

I'm assuming that you have a 10 gallon tank. The easiest way is using a siphon, they're cheap, maybe $5. If you want a really speedy clean up then buy a battery powered siphon or the Python.

For a 10 gallon tank, I'd reccomend a hang-on type filter, they're relatively cheap. Around $20 during the Christmas sales.

with a 10 gallon tank, I'd say you're going to have to clean it out rather frequently. That's an added benefit of having a larger tank. Contrary to what others might say, more water, less cleaning. You can pretty much do partial changes on a bi-weekly basis. With smaller tanks, they really do need a good cleaning more often to keep the water quality up to standards.

The $100 filter they were mentioning is rated for 175 gallon aquariums. Yes, siphons do an excellent job in cleaning the junk on the bottom of the tank out. Then, the filter polishes the water, I personally reccomend the Bio-Wheel filters from Marineland.

I have that same filter (XP3) on my 55 Gal tank. I used to have to clean my 10 gal fitler weekly (it was a "turtle filter"), and then i ended up getting my new tank and the XP3. I havent cleaned it so far this month, and it's crystal clear. And it provides a "current"
