Just wondering. Now that I've got a powerful filter, wondering if this has a lot of effect on the electric bill :) I think no, but thought I'd ask so there are no surprises!

what you should worry is not the filter, but the basking lights. However, if you already paying 100+ bucks each month, then adding another 10 bucks shouldnt be a concern..... ;-)

No real change in my electrical bill for my filter & more powerful 150W basking lamp. And I leave the basking lamp on for 13 hours a day!

You should be fine.

My computer being on 24/7 probably has more impact on the electric bill than your filter would.

when you are not using your computer, it only consumes the power for the fans, which are no more than 20-30 watts. A basking light can be as high as 200 watts. I think a filter is only 20 watts depending on the pwer

You don't know my attachment to my computer, and I don't have any of the standby thingies on and there are always programs running. The only time I don't use it is when I'm sleeping and thats usually when I run defrag and antivirus.
