General Care Discussion :: *swallowing* maybe a dumb ?

I noticed that Leo swallows a lot! He opens up his mouth just a little bit and seems to take in a little water and then swallows- I know I read somewhere that they have to use the water as their saliva so is he just swallowing like we do? I guess I just wanna make sure this is normal!

I think it's only if the turtle is above water that you need to be concerned with lots of open mouth. Under water they aren't struggling for breath if their little yaps are wide open.
