Sorry for the late respond. Steve, I was using a Reptisun 6.0 compact flourescent. I've put it about 10" to 12" away from the basking area. but Rockie's eyes were still swollen. So I've stopped using it for a while. Recently, I've been using it for like 1 to 3 hrs a day. But I can't really use it during weekday when I go to work. Rockie seems to be fine when I used it for a few hours in the weekend.

There is no Reptisun 6.0 compact flourescent, only the 5.0 or 10.0.

Are you using a reflector dome? How is the light positioned? What kind of light are you using for the heat source?

Hoho, sorry. it was a typo. I mean 5.0.
I don't know if mine would be consider as a reflector. it's the Exo Terra Glow Light which is porcelain claimp lamp + glow reflactor. it's not shiny inside. just that after you turn off the light, it'll glow in the dark.
My basking light is using Exo Terra Sun Glo 50W Tight Beam. Rockie doesn't have problem with the basking light at all. And he loves basking under the basking lamp.
