General Care Discussion :: The sweet spot

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Mon Feb 05, 2007 2:31 pm   The sweet spot

Just to let all who helped me know, I have found the sweet spot that my turts love to bask in. Also, I have figured out how to post a pic of them. So, thanks to everyone for their input.

Right around 96 degrees. T-Rex goes up for about an hour at a time and Lisa sometimes will go up for a couple of hours and other times continuously climb up and jump off like it's a diving board. It's pretty funny to watch.

Maybe the northern RESs are ok with it cooler and the southern RESs like it warmer.

Actually around 95 degrees. A lot of people on here recommend 90 degrees, but Spot's just not interested at that temp. He's a Texas turtle.

LOL. My RES like it in the mid-to upper 90's too. I let them get used it and then bring it down a bit :)

Well that's global warming for you! Even the New York turtles like it warm!

An excessively warm/hot basking area will contribute to skin shedding.
