This might be a silly question, but to turtles make sounds? my boyfriend and i were taking our slider out of her tank and she became sort if angry and opened her mouth wide and it sounded like she was hissing or something? was i hearing things or do they make some types of noises?

Well they do hiss.

Turtles do hiss. Somtimes when I take T-Rex out of the tank to clean it, he'll hiss if I scare him. He's not a big fan of coming out of the tank and he shows it with his hissing. It's normal though.

Yeah, they hiss when they're under sudden heavy stress (such as spooking them), or when they're angry.

They also do so if they retreat their heads quickly back into their shells, it forces out air from the lungs to make room for the head.
