General Care Discussion :: Aqua Plus Water conditioner

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I was wondering if anyone frequently uses Aqua Plus water condtioner? Link here

I did a search and saw Grey Goose had a bad experience with it, but I was wondering if that just happened to be a bad bottle? Other than that, I didn't see any posts regarding this brand.

I ask because it's getting harder to find the turtle conditioner I used to use (Nutrifin brand I think) and I haven't seen Reptisafe anywhere. It happened to be on sale at Petcetera, and came with a huge jar of fish flakes (which I sort of needed anyway) so I picked one up. But if several people have had bad experiences with it I'll take it back.

I think his experience coincided with some eye problems with his RES. It is now believed that it was a UVB light that caused the problems so I don't know if he's changed his opinion.

I have used Big Al's Multi-Purpose Water Conditioner without any noticeable problems.

I don't think the Aqua Plus was the cause of my guys eyes swelling up the way that they did. However, if you have a choice, go with Repti-Safe or just straight water conditioner (Aquarium Pharmaceuticals) with no extra additives for fish.

K, thanks for your thoughts guys. I'll think I'll hang on to it, and give it a try next time I do a full tank change. If it doesn't work out, I won't use it again.

Hmmm...when we first got my baby RES we used Aqua Plus for the water and his eyes got puffy. He wouldn't eat and after a week we ended up taking him back to the store. After that we switched to bottled water but our next turtle got the same thing. After a complete bleaching of the tank, we managed to nurse him back to health, so it probably wasn't Aqua Plus but who knows.
