General Care Discussion :: Black spot on shell?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Wed Feb 21, 2007 1:44 pm   Black spot on shell?

Over the past couple of weeks, my smaller turtles has developed a "black spot" that is acrossed two of the scutes. When it is dry it just looks like a "black spot," no smell, its not soft, and it is smooth with the rest of the shell. When he is in the water the "spot gets a golden type outline to it, almost like when he sheds.

I can't seem to get a clear picture with my camera, but here is the best I could do...

Ok, well I tried to get a clear pic, but my camera just can't do it. Do you think it can wait until May? Or should I move up my appointment at the herp vet?

When in doubt, check it out.

Make an appt. with the herp vet sooner rather than later so you can have some peace of mind! :)
