is anyone elses male turtles becoming really aggressive towards thier female tank mates this time of year. my male keeps going after our female turtle. trying to bite her neck and feet. today he even tried to pull her by her neck off the basking area and into the water :shock: . im going to move him into the smaller tank tommorow after i get another heater for that tank im hoping its just mating season and he will go back to normal in a monthor two.

Unfortunately once this behavior starts, it doesn't really stop (I went thru this a long time ago). The safest bet is to separate them into their own tanks.

Unfortunately, when turts are in captivity, there is no such thing as mating "season." It can happen at any moment all year long. Also, the female turtles can lay eggs several times a year in captivity too (not just once a year like in nature).
