the filter in my new tank is a great deal better than the one i had in the first tank. but i still clean obsessively. every night i grab a turkey baster and ''vacuum" the bottom of the tank.

i got a marineland penguin 350 biowheel filter. it's an outside filter, so it takes up less space. there was a deal at the petstore, if i got the filter i get half off the tank, so that's why i went for that one, though i would prefer something else. the turts like the waterfall, though, and it doesn't take up a whole lot of space. i have to cover the top b/c of the high water level, but honestly that wasn't a change. i have 50 gallons in the tank now, and that filter is good for up to 70 gallons, the current doesn't seem to be as much of a problem as i expected.

so verbose i am! very sorry. another thing i've been told repeatedly, it's best to get a filter that's rated above the gallonage you've got. turtles are much messier than fish =Þ

Don't you love to watch them play in the waterfall? Spot does it too. Our minnows do too.

yes it really is the cutest thing. john freaked out about it at first, but he likes to play by it. it was the first place aeryn went, and she loves to hang around it, and even tries to drink from it :)
