even though baby turtles are supposed to be around 80-82? At what point do they stop being baby turtles?

10 mouths old is plenty old for 76 to 78 F. 80 to 82 is for when they are sick. Keeping it this high will cause excessive growth and shedding, which is very taxing on the organs.

Mine are that age, and I keep the water @ 78, which seems to be fine.

For a healthy hatchling/up to a year of age, 78F is fine.
