has anyone ever had their heater fill up with stuff that looks like broken up poop? the heater in my small tank is almost half full of it and it doesn't seem to be working anymore. the light comes on, but the water's not getting up to the right temperature. is there anyway to get that crud out, or must I go buy a new heater? and any ideas what caused it?

Heaters are actually pretty cheap. Instead of messing with it, I'd just buy a new one. Stealth makes a pretty good heater and it isn't glass. I'm assuming that your's is glass since you can see through it. With glass and larger turts you will run the risk of breakage.

if its a sealed heater and its got stuff inside it, i'd throw it away!

i had one that water had leaked down the cord and inisde the unit, and I couldn't figure out why the fuse for my room kept tripping. Till someone was watching the tank when i flicked the fuse back on... big flash of light from inside the heater... not good ;)
