Hey congrats tohmit! You're a newlywed! That's great!

Spotsmama, I"m right with you. We adopted both of our dogs as "teenagers." The first was totally trained and wonderful. The second was a hurricane katrina rescue. He was totally NOT trained. Think he was an outdoor dog. You know, I joke around about him being not so smart, but honetly, maybe he suffered a head injury in the hurricane. Of course this only makes him more loveable and sweet. He's always happy :) But we are having a hard time with training him not to obsess over food. Well, his idea of food. Once he realizes there is a single goose poop anywhere nearby, he will run at top speed looking for more.

*sigh* I think another nice idea is to adopt older dogs: those who have lived with the family all their lives, and perhaps the owner passed, or after 12 years, a couple had a kid and no longer wanted the dog... that's what I'd like to start, just letting them spend their last days with us, you know? My fiance says no way. Too expensice with the medical bills... and too sad to fall in love for a few years only to say goodbye.

Anyone have tips to convince him otherwise? :) I know, I know this is totally off topic :)

*tears again*....Kiki I feel the same way about the older dogs.... (OMG and the goose poop...ROFL) Sorry...
anyway...I feel the same as your fiance' (in a way) BUT I also feel that those POOR dogs who may be in any of the same situations you mentioned still NEED LOVE and ATTENTION until they die! Sweet babies :( Just take him to the Shelter to look at those beautiful faces saying "pick me pick me!!"... That melts my heart everytime!!!

I would NEVER get rid of a pet once I own it, but I understand some HAVE to...and I just put myself in the cat or dogs place and feel what they feel I guys.. "Like what the heck happened and where is my family?" OMG Makes me want them all!!!!
