So i was staring at my turtle and i noticed that he winks alot. Its pretty much the even amount of times for both eyes, but its sorta creepy when the turtle winks at you
Just wanted to know if this was normal or what

My Gomez winks (or blinks, both eyes) when she is basking, especially when I put my face (Big Head) up against the glass....

If he winks a lot it could be that eyes are irritated. Has he always done this?

A lot of things can cause eye irritation - chlorine in the water, too much water conditioner, unclean water, infection, lack of vitamin A. Sometimes it's a problem with a light bulb.

Think through those things and see if any could be a cause of irritation. If it's something minor, you can correct the condition and give the turtle some zoo med turtle eye drops. They're soothing.

Tilly, my RES, will wink/blink occasionally while he stares at me. My painteds seem to blink less. If we look at each other too long, they shut their eyes on me (I think their way of letting me know they've seen enough of me).

Its not alot, its just often when i stare at him i see it once or twice, I don't believe its unclean water or infection since i use the zoomed eye drops on him. Maybe its too much chlorine in the water, I haven't done any test yet, on the water since i don't have the required stuff. I guess i'll go to walmart or something and get some more conditioner. Thanks to all that posted and replied!
